Unpublished manuscript by Gerard Malanga with an introduction by Aram Saroyan. This typescript consists of diaries written by Malanga from 1966-67 during his time spent in Manhattan as a poet, photographer, and Andy Warhol’s assistant. Includes intimate glimpses at life with Andy Warhol, The Velvet Underground, Allen Ginsberg, Benedetta Barzini, and many other members of the downtown art scene at the time. Although unpublished, Malanga’s Secret Diaries serves as a definitive prose text of the 1960s. In its introduction Aram Saroyan called it "one of the major prose testaments of the Sixties. Includes an index and pages of Xeroxed photographs from Malanga’s photo archives. This copy is signed by Gerard Malanga with inscription, “This copy of The Secret Diaries on the day of the Andy Warhol Exhibition, Sat. April 2, 1988. Archivally yours, the G.” Stamped and embossed on cover page.
